I struggled with FloorWork and back bending movements such as Deep Bodywave, Torso Twist, and Standing Layback for the longest time. I didn't know how or which parts of my body to properly activate. Doing these extreme movements with improper technique for a long time, aggravated my back pain.
Luckily I had great opportunities to train with amazing contortionists for over 5 years, they're backbend specialists! I also learned what's going on in the body anatomically when doing extreme movements from knowledgeable physiotherapists who specialize in performing arts. My training and dance practice evolved rapidly as I applied what I learned and continued to study. I learned to train smarter, not harder, and my back pain went away.
